Power back up in select Laguna areas affected by Taal ashfall
Power was restored in several areas affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano, the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced Monday.
In an advisory, Meralco said power had been restored in portions of Sta. Rosa, Cabuyao, and Calamba in Laguna earlier in the day.
"Meralco is currently on full alert and ready to respond to any power-related emergencies," Meralco Spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said in a statement sent via mobile message.
Meralco on Sunday said power outages were reported in Cavite and Laguna due to the ashfall following the phreatic eruption at Taal Volcano.
According to Zaldarriaga, the following areas had been affected:
- portions of Bacoor, Silang, Amadeo, Indang, Naic, Trece Martirez City, Alfonso, Cavite City, Dasmarinas City of Cavite;
- portions of Cabuyao and Calamba, Laguna; and
- portions of Talisay, Batangas.
"Meralco is working to restore power in these areas as soon as possible," said Zaldarriaga.
Meralco operates and maintains the electric distribution system in the cities and municipalities of Bulacan, Cavite, Metro Manila, and Rizal and certain cities, municipalities, and barangays in the provinces of Batangas, Laguna, Pampanga, and Quezon.
