Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Monday said nonstop flights between Manila and Perth, Australia will start in March 2020.

Flights between the two destinations will start on March 30, 2020, marking the first nonstop air link between the Philippines and Western Australia, the airline said in a statement.

Flights from Manila to Perth (PR 223) will leave every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 12:05 a.m. and arrive in Perth at 7:20 a.m. local time.

Flights from Perth to Manila will leave at 8:40 a.m. local time and touch down in Manila at 3:50 p.m. on the same days.

“Our pioneer nonstop flights will allow us to vigorously promote the Philippines as a top-notch tourist experience for residents of Western Australia, and we look forward to extending our gracious Filipino hospitality to them from the moment they step on board our brand-new planes flown by our experienced professional crew,” said PAL chief sales and chief marketing officer Eugene Go.

PAL will deploy its Airbus A321neo aircraft for the route, which will have 12 business class seats and 156 economy seats.

Perth is PAL’s fourth Australian gateway, following Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, which are all served with nonstop flights using the Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft.

Overall, PAL offers a total of 19 weekly nonstop flights to Australian destinations, three weekly flights to Auckland in New Zealand, and four flights to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
