FDA warns public against buying 5 unregistered food products

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the consuming public against purchasing and consuming five unregistered food products.
In Advisory No. 2019-448, the FDA said the following products were not authorized and have not been issued Certificates of Product Registration:
- Skinny Coffee Detox Instant Drink Mix with L-Carnitine, Garcinia Cambogia, Green Tea Extract, Glutathione, and Collagen
- Ludy’s Instant Ginger Punch Salabat with Lemon
- Enteng Edibles King of Fire Chili Sauce All Natural
- Merlyn’s Peanut Butter
- Bless Peanut Butter
Under the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, “the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper authorization is prohibited,” FDA Philippine said.
“Since these unregistered food products have not gone through the evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety. The use of such violative products may pose health risks to consumers,” the advisory read.
The FDA warned regional offices, regulatory enforcement units, and concerned establishments not to distribute such products until they have been issued the proper authority to be sold in the market.
The FDA also advised the public to check if a food product is duly registered through the FDA website, www.fda.gov.ph. —Julia Mari Ornedo/VDS, GMA News
