Isko Moreno inks pact with PayMaya for allowance cards of seniors, PWDs
The city government of Manila on Tuesday signed a memorandum of agreement with Smart Communications-led PayMaya Philippines on citizen benefits cards for the elderly, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and solo parents.
Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso signed the memorandum with officials of PayMaya during a ceremony at the Bulwagang Katipunan of the Manila City Hall.
PayMaya will issue ID cards to beneficiaries, through which they will be able to receive monthly allowances without having to go to the City Hall or other government offices anymore.
Domagoso earlier signed Ordinance No. 8565 granting a P500 monthly allowance for senior citizens, , and solo parents who are registered residents of the City of Manila.
The implementation begins January 2020.
Beneficiaries can also use other financial services once linked to the PayMaya app.“Walang mayaman, walang middle-class, walang mahirap. Ano ang susi? PayMaya ang susi. Gusto kong ipabatid sa inyo, laway-laway lang ito. Walang tosgas (gastos),” Domagoso said.
“Kung talagang gustong tumulong ng gobyerno, tumulong na lang ng walang hinihintay na kapalit,” he added.
To receive monthly stipends, beneficiaries must be residents and registered voters of the city.
For senior citizens, they must be on the masterlist of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), while PWDs and solo parents must be on the masterlist of the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW). —Ted Cordero/VDS, GMA News
