J&T Express partners with Shopee to boost deliveries in PHL e-commerce market

Southeast Asian express delivery firm J&T Express on Tuesday announced its partnership with e-commerce platform giant Shopee to boost its operations and delivery services to take advantage of the growing number of online shoppers and retailers in the Philippines

On the sidelines of the partnership signing ceremony in Taguig City, J&T Express sales and marketing director Tommy Li told reporters the company tapped Shopee as it saw an opportunity with the e-commerce platform being "one of the best players in e-commerce industry in the country.

In a separate statement, J&T Express Philippines CEO Dean Ding cited a recent The Internet World States report which found that as of January 2018 there are around 67 million Filipinos who do their shopping online, showing a 12% increase year-on-year.

Li said Shopee users can benefit from J&T Express's nationwide coverage. He said the company has 300 branches nationwide, 300 trucks, and 6,000 riders.

The delivery services firm also offers 365 days operations, a 24-hour hotline, and insurance claim facilities.

"We believe that shipping is an essential part of any e-commerce company and giving a good deliver experience to our customers is key to maintaining a loyal customer base," Shopee Philippines associate director Martin Yu said.

Apart from Shopee, J&T Express is also open to forge partnerships with other e-commerce platforms, according to Li.

With the partnership with Shopee, he said J&T Express is confident it can expand its presence in the country, noting that the company is eyeing to open over 1,000 branches across the country following its official launch in the Philippines. — BM, GMA News
