SSS slaps 15 Binondo establishments with show-cause orders
The Social Security System (SSS) on Thursday issued show-cause orders against 15 business establishments in Binondo, Manila as part of a campaign against employers who do not remit their employees’ contributions to the pension fund.
In a phone interview, SSS Senior Vice President for NCR Operations Jose Bautista said the establishments were also not registered as employers—failing to comply with the law.
“Dahil hindi sila registered as employers, hindi nila nire-remit ‘yung contribution nila for their employees,” Bautista said. “As employers they should comply with the law and remit their employees’ premium to the pension fund.”
The operations in Binondo form part of the pension fund’s Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign.
The establishments, Bautista said, were given enough time to comply before being slapped with show-cause orders (SCOs).
“Binisita na sila before and they were given time to register and comply pero hindi pa rin sila nag-comply kaya binigyan na namin ng SCOs,” he said.
The establishments must explain within 15 calendar days why the government-run pension fund should not impose legal action against them for not complying with Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018. —VDS, GMA News
