Telcos ordered to deliver uninterrupted services on election day


Telecommunications companies are required to deliver uninterrupted services on Monday, the day of the midterm elections, as ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

Under Memorandum Order 02-05-2019, the NTC mandated the telecommunications companies to give priority to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and ensure that operations are available throughout the polls.

"Sufficient operations and maintenance personnel shall be deployed to ensure 99.99 network availability and reliability," the memorandum read.

"All necessary network adjustments and maintenance shall be undertaken to ensure that the network adjustments and maintenance shall be undertaken to ensure that the networks are ready to accommodate the expected increase in traffic during the conduct of the National and Local Elections," it added.

The memorandum was dated May 6, 2019, and was signed by NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba and Deputy Commissioners Edgardo Cabarios and Delilah Deles. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
