Jollibee vows to protect trademark amid JoyRulBee alleged infringement
Homegrown fast-food giant Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) is taking legal actions against a restaurant in China for supposed trademark infringement.
"Our Legal team has been taking the necessary steps in order to protect and uphold our company’s trademark rights as what is provided for under the law," JFC said in a statement.
A video posted by Christopher Guzman, an overseas Filipino worker in China, went viral on Facebook.
The video showed a fast-food outlet named JoyRulBee in China, which obviously has the same store design as Jollibee.
"Matindi ito kopyang kopya ang pwesto at may logo pa ng Jollibee. Sa 10 years namin sa China ngayon lang kami nakakita ng ganito. Makakakain nga kami, copy naman hehehe. Sana naging totoong jollibee na lang ito...," Guzman said in his post.
The JoyRulBee store also fronts the same bee logo as Jollibee's.
De Guzman's post has been viewed more than 200,000 times and garnered more than 1,000 reactions.
"The particular JoyRulBee infringing store in Guangxi, China has already been brought to the attention of Jollibee Foods Corporation even before the post went viral in social media," JFC said. —Ted Cordero/KG/BAP, GMA News
