430,000 Meralco customers affected by service interruptions due to Ompong

Over 400,000 customers of the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) are currently affected by services interruptions due to the wrath of super typhoon Ompong.

In a report on GMA News' "Balitanghali" on Sunday, Meralco said some 430,000 customers could experience service interruptions as of 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.

"Currently, due to the effects of Typhoon Ompong on our franchise, around 430,000 customers are affected by service interruptions across our franchise area as of 8 a.m," the utility firm said.

"Meralco continues to work 24/7 to respond to all customer concerns but would like to inform the public that some areas in need for restoration are inaccessible due to strong winds and floods," it added.

The company on Saturday earlier announced power outages in several areas within its service area.

"Rest assured that safety of our customers and crew are of utmost importance and we will continue to focus all our efforts on restoring power to customers and areas affected by outages," said Meralco. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
