Viral photo of sili prices 'inaccurate' —SM Markets
The management of SM Markets has warned the public regarding the photo circulating over social media showing the price of Taiwan peppers (sili) at P1,029.60 per net weight of 0.312 kilogram.
In a statement posted in its official Facebook account on September 7, SM Markets clarified that the accurate price of Taiwan peppers, with a net weight of 0.042 kilogram, is P31.50 at their supermarkets.
One kilogram will cost P750, SM Markets noted.
"The photo currently being circulated on social media regarding the price of pre-weighed Taiwan peppers is not accurate. Please find the correct pricing for the product reflected in all our stores carrying it," SM Markets said.
"We encourage the public not to engage with the erroneous post," it added.
The said photo went viral on social media as netizens decried the continuous increase in the price of basic commodities. —Anna Felicia Bajo/JST, GMA News
