Forbes '30 Under 30' listee launches gaming app where Pinoys can earn extra cash

Gian Scottie Javelona, one of the Filipinos who landed on the Forbes' 30 Under 30 List, recently launched a gaming application which allows Filipinos to earn through answering trivia challenges.

Dubbed Paydro Live, the mobile application is a mobile trivia game show which gives players the chance to earn extra money by answering 11 multiple choice questions every day.

Players who answer all 11 questions correctly will split the cash prize.

"Parang bayanihan lang in a sense that the more people play Paydro, the bigger the cash prize gets. Our team intends not just to entertain but also to bring people together and show the world that the Philippines can come up with a game that can trend globally," Paydro said in an emailed statement.

Games are scheduled every 12:30 p.m., from Mondays to Fridays, with players having to answer questions within a time limit.

With most games now averaging 40,000 per session, Paydro said it is now aiming to hit 100,000 users on a single game which will then increase the total winnings to P1 million.

"Our goal is to 100,000 users to play on a single game this August and once we hit that number, we will give away P1 million," the company said.

"We generate revenue through advertising that why I said the more people play Paydro, the bigger the cash prize we can give," Javelona, who co-founded the application, told GMA News Online separately.

Javelona was among the five Filipinos who made it in 2017's Forbes "30 Under 30 Asia" list, joining the "brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators, and game changers" in the region.

Javelona was a former student of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), and headed his own tech firm at the age of 24.

So far, top winners of Paydro have earned as much as P14,000, which may be cashed out in select branches of BDO Unibank Inc., Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), PayPal, Union Bank of the Philippines, and Western Union.

"The app allows us to educate people for free while having fun and earning extra money so in short our users will help us sustain the app and also generate revenue," said Javelona. —LBG/BM, GMA News
