BSP’s Espenilla says health condition to normalize soon
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Nestor Espenilla, Jr. is on the road to recovery and is confident that his health condition will normalize soon.
In an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the Management Association of the Philippines Economic Briefing in Makati City, Espenilla said he has finished radiation treatment for tongue cancer.
“Time is on my side, so I have to be patient and wait it out. Let me normalize and I'm confident that I will normalize soon enough,” he said.
Espenilla announced last month he was diagnosed with early-stage tongue cancer and has completed radiation therapy.
“I finished my last radiation treatment February 9, so as of that point in time, as I've mentioned, my doctors say I am cancer free,” he said on Tuesday.
“But, of course, cancer is cancer. So, again, it may come back. Hopefully, not,” he said.
With his treatment complete, Espenilla noted he is getting better except for some after-effects such as dehydration.
“From then on, every day is better for me,” he said. —VDS, GMA News
