4.7 million packs of Mighty Corp. cigarettes to be burned in Davao

Authorities will burn 4.7 million packs of Mighty Corp. cigarettes with fake stamps in Davao City on Sunday.

A report by Vitoria Tulad on radio dzBB said the burning of the cigarettes will be held at the Holcim plant.

The cigarettes worth at least P142.440 million were confiscated by authorities from the Sunshine Cornmill Co. in General Santos City last March 6.

The Department of Finance said the Mighty Corp. has an estimated excise tax liability and penalty worth at least {1.394 billion based on the confiscated cigarettes. —ALG, GMA News
