DMCI founder David Consunji passes away at 95


Business leader David Consunji passed away on Monday. He was 95.

In a statement on Tuesday, DMCI Group of companies confirmed Consunji's demise.

Consunji founded the DMCI Group, a business with interests in contraction, real estate, mining, and energy.

"The Board of Directors, Management and employees of the DMCI group deeply mourn his passing," the company said.

It said that Consunji, recognized locally as the father of contemporary construction industry, built landmarks and redefined cityscapes for generations of Filipinos.

"He valued not the quick profit but the satisfaction of doing one’s work well, honestly and proudly," DMCI said.

The company said Consunji's remains lie at the Capilla de San Francisco of Santuario de San Antonio Parish, McKinley Road, Forbes Park in Makati City, and may be viewed starting September 5, evening, until Friday, September 8.

Interment is scheduled on Saturday, September 9, at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City after the 9:30 a.m. mass. at Santuario de San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Consunji's honor to the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation Inc. and Orani Suhay Foundation Inc. —ALG, GMA News
