Isko Moreno now NorthRail's chairman and CEO
Days after his appointment to the board, former Manila vice mayor Isko Moreno is now chairman and CEO of the of the North Luzon Railways Corporation (NorthRail).
Hours after Malacañang announced his appointment to the NorthRail board on Wednesday morning, Moreno said that he had been confirmed as NorthRail's chairman and CEO.
The former actor and losing senatorial candidate also said that the Bases Conversion Development Authority had just approved his new position.
"I am grateful to President Duterte for giving me a chance again to go back to public service. As for expectations for the job, that I don't know yet. I'm now on my way to Balara office (of NorthRail) to work agad. Magre-report na ako agad para walang masayang na oras sa taumbayan," he added in a phone interview with reporters.
He said public service "has always been embedded" in his system and he would try "to serve the best interest of the Filipino people in my own little way."
Malacañang earlier in the day announced Moreno's appointment to the NorthRail board, whose mission is to develop, construct, operate and manage "a world-class and environmentally sustainable rail transport system to serve Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Northern Luzon."
