eTelecare to acquire AOL unit for $7.2M

Business outsourcing service provider eTelecare Global Solutions Inc. on Wednesday said it would be acquiring for $7.2 million a Philippine subsidiary of AOL, a division of conglomerate Time Warner Inc. In a statement, Nasdaq listed eTelecare said that it will be purchasing all outstanding stock of AOL Member Services-Philippines Inc., a primarily non-voice customer care and technical support delivery firm based in Manila. eTelecare said the deal will be finalized by the end of September. "The acquisition... will enable eTelecare to further develop its non-voice service offerings, including e-mail and chat, by adding approximately 1,000 employees in the Philippines," the company said. The firm will then use the newly acquired delivery center to cater to AOL customers. "The acquisition of the AOL customer care and technical support subsidiary will expand our capabilities to serve the growing email, chat and other non-voice needs of our clients and the market. In addition, we are pleased to have this opportunity to work with AOL," John Harris, president and chief executive officer of eTelecare, said in a statement. eTelecare is one of the leading BPO providers based in the Philippines. - GMANews.TV
