Okada Manila to start expansion this year

Tiger Resort Leisure & Entertainment Inc. on Friday said it is on track to begin the expansion this year of Okada Manila.

"We would be preparing for our Phase II starting this year, within the year," Tiger Resort Chairman Kazuo Okada told reporters on the sidelines of the Prosperity for All Summit in Pasay City on Friday.

The $2-billion integrated resort casino Okada Manila formally opened only in March, even though it hosted some of the side events of the Miss Universe pageant earlier this year.

"About 300,000 square meters will be developed for our Phase II," Okada said.

Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Najib Tun Razak opened the Prosperity Summit with a speech, and Vice President Leni Robredo delivered the keynote address.

SM Investment Corp. Vice Chairperson Tessie Sy-Coson, Double Dragon Properties Inc. Co-Chair and CEO Injap Sia, and Megaworld Corp. First Vice President Kevin Tan were also at the Prosperity Summit, which was organized by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council chaired by Joey Concepcion. — VDS, GMA News
