BOC seizes Skyjet aircraft for lack of documents, tax receipts

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Monday said it seized a Skyjet Airlines airplane, after its owners failed to present tax receipts and proof of ownership covering the aircraft.

In an emailed statement, the BOC said it took custody of the plane on March 29, after its custodian was unable to show proof payment of duties and taxes, and other documents on the acquisition of the aircraft and its operations.

"Based on reports, the aircraft owner and operator of Skyjet Airlines, Magnum Air Inc., had already been delisted from the Subic Bay Freeport List of Locators and had ceased operations since 2014," it said.

The inspection was conducted by the Philippine Aerospace Development Corp. (PADC) Hangar III at the Domestic Airport in Pasay City.

Magnum Air Inc. has been given 15 days to present the ownership and operations documents regarding the aircraft.

"Failure to do so would result in the issuance of a Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the aircraft," the BOC said. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
