Business leader Roberto Aboitiz dies at 67


Business leader and philanthropist Roberto Eduardo "Bobby" Aboitiz of the century-old Aboitiz conglomerate passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 67.

 

Bobby had been the chairman of the board and president of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) since 1986.

Rianne Tecson, RAFI Corporate Communications head, confirmed in a text message the passing away of the business leader.

Tecson said that Bobby died while in a hospital in Manila, but she did not provide other details.

"The family wishes not to issue any more statements regarding his death," she said.

Bobby was also the director of publicly-listed Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. and had served as co-chairman of the Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board.

The late business leader was also the vice president and trustee of Tsuneishi Foundation (Cebu) Inc. and director of Tsuneishi Heavy Industries Inc (Cebu).

Aboitiz is survived by his wife, Maria Cristina, and their four children. —LBG, GMA News
