HMD to release Nokia 3310 in PHL by June

Finland-based HMD Global Oy, which owns the exclusive rights to market Nokia phones, on Monday said the new version of the Nokia 3310 will be released in the Philippines by June this year.

In an emailed statement, HMD confirmed it is set to release the 3310 and other Nokia feature phones in the second quarter of the year.

"The new Nokia 3310 takes the iconic silhouette of the original and re-imagines it for 2017," Nokia said on its website.

The model was earlier reported to be priced at €59, or P3,220.81 (based on a P54.594:€1 exchange rate on March 27), and will be initially launched in the European market.

Although it has similar elements to the original handset, the new 3310 will have a full-color display, elevated menu features and 2G internet but with without Wi-Fi capability.

HMD is also scheduled to release the following phones this week: Nokia 150 Dual Sim (P1,500 SRP), Nokia 216 Dual Sim (P1,790 SRP), and the Nokia 230 Dual Sim (P2,890 SRP).

HMD will also release the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 in the second quarter of the year. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
