CAAP to shut down Tagaytay air traffic radar for a week in March
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is temporarily shutting down the air traffic radar in Tagaytay for maintenance and upgrade, bringing down the number of flights for six days next month.
In a tweet on its official Twitter account Monday, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said noted CAAP Deputy Director General Captain Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo announced the radar shutdown to be implemented from March 6 to 11.

The radar will be upgraded to integrate "world-class" air traffic control.

As a result, flights will have to be reduced while upgrade and maintenance works are ongoing from Monday, March 6, to Saturday, March 11.

Airlines have until Thursday, February 16, to finalize slots for those dates, the DOTr said.
"With the shutdown of the Tagaytay radar, only two radars will remain operational. But the terminal radar in NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) will guide airmen," it said. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
