GMA Network to launch digital terrestrial TV technology
GMA Network Inc. will launch a digital terrestrial television technology far superior to those already out in the market, Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon announced on Wednesday.
"We will be launching our digital terrestrial TV technology, a product that we believe is better than what our main rival has introduced to the market," Gozon said before stockholders of the company.
According to Gozon, a "device that will convert digital transmission so that the analog TV set can receive the digital transmission" is targeted to be rolled out later this year.
GMA Network has set a budget of P1.5 billion for the project. The device is also set to be cheaper than products already out in the market.
"We are trying very hard to make it cheaper considering the people cannot afford very expensive prices... Maliit lang, mas mura," Gozon said.
Asked when the device will be introduced to the market, Gozon said: "Hindi ko masabi kung within this year, but we are ready and we are just finalizing the rough edges."
"Under application sa patent office... Alam niyo naman lahat ng TV set dito puro analog so without that device you cannot see the digital transmission," he added. — VVP/JST, GMA News
