Ford Philippines reports record-high Q1 sales

Ford Philippines, a unit of US carmaker Ford Motor Co., reported record-high sales in the first quarter following a 34-percent increase in March year-on-year.

Total sales in March reached 1,339 units, up from 1,000 a year earlier, Ford Philippines managing director Kay Hart told reporters at the Manila International Auto Show on Thursday.

The sales in March brought to 3,692 units the number of vehicles sold in the first three months of the year, up 37.5 percent from 2,685 a year earlier.

“We saw strong demand for the Ranger, Everest, Fiesta and Explorer,” Hart said.

The company  launched the EcoSport compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) in January, and deliveries will start this month.

“The all-new Ford Escape will be available in the Philippines in the fourth quarter,” Hart said, noting the company is expanding its dealerships to achieve higher sales.

According to Ford official, the company is opening four more dealerships in key provincial places this year, which will raise the dealership network to 37.

Total sales last year reached 13,286 units, up 41.4 percent from a year earlier. – VS, GMA News
