US credit card firm Capital One opens contact center in Alabang

US financial holding company Capital One Financial Corp. opened its contact center facility in Alabang, Muntinlupa on Wednesday, in what used to be HSBC’s outsourcing facility.

Capital One acquired HSBC’s US credit card unit last year.

The facility employs more than 2,200 contact center agents to support Capital One’s credit card business and retail banking services. The employees used to be part of the HSBC contact center.

According to the contact center’s general manager Paul Townsend, the facility is the company’s largest site in the world and the only on in Southeast Asia. He added that Capital One plans to increase the contact center's workforce, but declined to say by how many.

Townsend also said that Capital One is spending P1 million to develop a call center curriculum and associate volunteer program for the schoolchildren of the Tuloy Foundation, which they can put to use upon graduation. — BM, GMA News
