Gozon: Eleksyon 2013 coverage ratings proof of viewers’ trust in GMA Network
GMA Network chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon, pleased by the network's ratings for its coverage of the 2013 national elections, said the numbers are proof that many television viewers trust the television station.
During his speech at GMA Network’s annual Family Day on Saturday, Gozon expressed his congratulations to the GMA News and Public Affairs for its high ratings of its coverage of the 2013 national elections, which was tagged “Eleksyon 2013.”
“Gusto ko munang i-congratulate ang GMA News and Public Affairs sa kanilang matagumpay na Eleksyon 2013 coverage,” Gozon said, noting that the network’s coverage garnered higher ratings than the competition in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM), in Urban Luzon, and in Mega Manila.
According to overnight data from ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, GMA News and Public Affairs’ Eleksyon 2013 was the preferred election day coverage of Filipinos nationwide.
GMA News Online, meanwhile, topped Philippine online rankings with 9.4 million page views on May 13.
According to industry metrics source Effective Measure, GMA News Online had a lead of 6 million page views over the second-ranked website abs-cbnnews.com which totaled 3.1 million page views on election day. GMA News Online more than doubled its numbers the next day, May 14, with 21 million page views.
In the same speech, Gozon mentioned good news regarding higher income generated by GMA Network’s business segments, especially GMA Network’s Regional TV, whose income Gozon said grew by 78 percent.
In another part of his speech, Gozon noted efforts by GMA Network to expand, one of the latest of which is the launch of an originating station with complete studio facilities in Cagayan de Oro in January.
He said these developments mean that it is only “a matter of time” before GMA Network leads Visayas and Mindanao.
Kaya sa palagay ko, it is simply a matter of time bago natin maipanalo ang ating ratings sa Visayas and Mindanao,” Gozon said. - VVP/HS, GMA News
