Clark Freeport reports record 66,200 employees as of end-June

Over 66,200 workers were employed in the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga as of end-June this year, the state-run Clark Development Corp. (CDC) said in statement posted on its website.   The electronic sector is the largest employer at the free port with 14,145 workers, followed by information technology and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors with a combined 11,475 agents.   CDC noted the 66,223 workers were employed by 553 locators.   The free port manager added that the previous high in terms of employment was recorded at 64,488 last May 31.   The increase in number of workers was driven by Cyber City Teleservices Inc., which expanded its operations in the last quarter of 2011, CDC.   Cyber City still needs of about 900 BPO agents to fill its operational needs, said Clark Development.   The BPO company employed more than 2,000 agents as of end June, CDC noted. — MJC/VS, GMA News
