Singapore: 5 spots you shouldn't miss in Gardens by the Bay
Singapore is known for its iconic landmarks, such as the iconic Jewel Changi, Merlion Park, Haji Lane, Sentosa Island, and Fort Canning, among others. But a Singapore trip will not be completed without visiting the famous Gardens by the Bay.
Dubbed as Singapore's "City in Nature" vision, Gardens by the Bay is a national garden and premier horticultural attraction showcasing over 1.5 million plants and various Instagram-worthy spots.
An hour or two may not be enough time to explore the area, but here are some spots you should definitely include on your must-see list when you visit the Gardens.
1. Flower Dome Garden Trail
The Flower Dome is blooming with plants from the Mediterranean region to South African savannahs and arid deserts.
Immerse yourself in the aromatic olive groves, majestic baobabs, and resilient succulents which have adapted to dry climates.
An Australian-themed floral display, Carnival of Flowers, inspired by Australia's Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, the longest-running floral show, can also be seen here. It features native Australian plants like kangaroo paw, grevillea, waratah, manuka, and banksia.
2. Cloud Forest
Known as the home to one of the world's tallest indoor waterfalls, Cloud Forest is definitely a crowd favorite!
Upon entering, a gentle breeze will welcome you along with the majestic 35-meter-tall waterfall. Cloud Forest is also the home of carnivorous plants such as pitcher plants and Venus Flytraps, set against a verdant carpet of delicate ferns and mosses.
You can also take your selfies with a spot of home at the Orchid Haven's newest attraction, "Gardens by the Bahay Kubo: A Fiesta of Orchids."
The display was put together by 20 Filipino domestic workers and students keen to share their culture with Singapore.
It features the Queen of Philippine Flowers, Waling-waling, and a display of carabao, our national animal, and the Philippine eagle, our national bird.
3. Impressions of Monet: The Experience
An art museum in a garden? Say no more because the Gardens by the Bay has it all. It launched an engaging, multi-sensory experience celebrating the works and lives of Monet and his contemporaries.
From Vivid Dreams to Beneath the Flowerbed, Night at the Lily Pond, and Immersive Gallery, there are plenty of IG-worthy spots you should not miss.
Impressions of Monet: The Experience is located at the Flower Field Hall.
4. Garden Rhapsody
Treat yourself and your eyes to the breathtaking view of the Supertrees with the music and lights at night! The show starts daily from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at Supertree Grove.
You can also experience the Northern Lights in Singapore with Borealis, which has a new immersive light and sound installation.
Visitors can just chill, bring food, and take photos while enjoying the night show. Plus, admission is free except for ticketed events such as Christmas Wonderland.
5. The walk in the outdoor gardens
Aiming for that hashtag nature lover post? The Gardens have 10 areas to walk on under the sun for free.
Most take the Bay East Garden route to run, cycle, or just wander, as it is open 24 hours a day.
Just a tip: It is best to visit on weekdays when the crowds are low and probably when the sun is about to set.
You can get to the Gardens by the Bay by train (MRT) or bus.
Spanning 101 hectares in the heart of Singapore's downtown Marina Bay, the area comprises three waterfront gardens – Bay South, Bay East, and Bay Central. Bay South, the largest at 54 hectares, officially opened in 2012.
Gardens by the Bay has welcomed more than 100 million visitors and garnered numerous international accolades, including the eighth top attraction in the world in Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best 2024.
