Manila ranked 5th riskiest city for foreign tourists — Forbes

Philippine capital Manila is among the riskiest cities for foreign tourists, according to Forbes Advisor.

The publication ranked Manila as the 5th riskiest city with a total score of 91.49. The Philippine capital ranked 9th in crime risk, 5th in personal security risk, 7th in health security risk, 9th in infrastructure security risk, and 12th in digital security risk. 

Joining Manila in the top five riskiest cities are Lagos, Nigeria (fourth); Yangon, Myanmar (third); and Karachi, Pakistan (second).

Forbes Advisor found Caracas, Venezuela as the riskiest city for tourists, noting it has the highest health security risk, highest crime risk, and having the worst travel safety rating from the US State Department.

Meanwhile, Singapore is the safest city for having the best travel safety rating from the US State Department and lowest natural disaster risk.

Joining Singapore in the safest cities category are Tokyo, Japan (second); Toronto, Canada (third); Sydney, Australia (fourth); and Zurich, Switzerland (fifth).

Forbes Advisor said it compared 60 international cities across seven key metrics — travel safety, crime risk, personal security risk, health security risk, infrastructure security risk, natural disaster risk, and digital security risk — to determine the riskiest and safest cities for travelers.
