Thea Tolentino prefers solo travel because 'mahirap mag-travel nang may kasama'
Unsure about traveling solo? Listen to Thea Tolentino.
The Kapuso celebrity has been traveling alone since 2019, saying she actually prefers it than having companions.
"Mahirap mag-travel nang may kasama," she began on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" Friday.
"Mas enjoy ako [alone] because wala kong iniintindi na ibang tao, which is a breather for me kasi isa kong bread winner," Thea continued.
Solo travel is a great exercise in learning about oneself, too. "I learn more about myself — kung ano yung gusto ko, kung ano yung ayaw ko. I learned na kaya ko pala maging brave, that I can put myself in uncomfortable situations. Na OK lang pala maligaw," she continued.
Like most of us, Thea's favorite destination is Japan, borne out of a childhood spent enjoying anime and hearing Japanese songs on the radio.
According to Thea, she didn't realize she could actually just get up and go until a friend invited her to watch a concert in Japan. It was an "oo nga" moment for Thea. 'And then nabudol na ko ng ilang taon," she said.
"Nung nag-artista ako, hindi ko naisip na kumikita na ko, pwede na 'kong mag-travel sa ibang bansa," she said.
In 2019, she made it her personal goal to meet people from all around the world. "And nagawa ko. I made a friend from Singapore, from Spain."
She said meeting people with different views in life is important. "Don ka kai nag-go-grow as a person."
There are many other benefits to solo travel. You're going to care less what other people think. You'll learn how to enjoy your own company, and they're going to appreciate the people you travel with." — LA, GMA Integrated News
