Inka Magnaye on why she does not travel abroad: ‘I can’t afford it’

Inka Magnaye was asked recently why she never travels abroad and on TikTok, the popular voice talent admitted to having a hard time splurging on travels. 

“Long story short is I can’t afford it,” Inka said. “As much as I know that travel would be good for me, these are expenses that I just can’t justify on my own.”

“The way I think of it is the plane tickets to and from will be my rent. Food and accommodation alone for that trip would be my groceries. Transportation, pocket money, those things can go to my bills.”

Recalling how her family’s business burned down when she was a teenager, Inka said that may be the reason why she is “hyper aware of these responsibilities that I now have.”

“I’m the primary breadwinner of my home so these are things that I need to think about and not just the current bills that I have,” she said.

“I need to have money saved for whatever else happens like in case of emergencies so I really can’t afford to travel,” she continued, adding that she also hardly goes shopping.

As a freelancer, Inka said it is also harder for her to “budget money that doesn’t come in regularly.”

She has been to various places in the Philippines though and even in those trips, she makes sure to be on a budget.

Sharing this, Inka said she will continue to work hard so “one day, I can afford to travel.” She also said in the comments that one should not pretend to be rich because “tayo lang mahihirapan pa.”

Inka recently came from a sponsored trip to Singapore.
