Oh look, a new bamboo garden launches in Antipolo
Bamboo plants aren't just a sight to behold. They also don't just clean the air, sequester carbon, and help in biodiversity.
Because the longest grass in the world can grow exceptionally fast, many are saying the bamboo can also be of great help in humanity's fight against climate change.
Helping people see and realize the very many benefits of bamboo is among the objectives of newly launched Carolina Bamboo Garden (CBG).
The 5-hectare property located in Antipolo, Rizal also is now also an accredited agricultural training institute that teaches different farming strategies and techniques.
According to Carolina G. Jimenez, co-owner and founder of of the CBG, "ang mission ng property nito ay makapagbigay sa tao ng maganda kabuhayan at malaman ang importance ng bamboo."
At the launch, Rizal Governor Rebecca Ynares also added, "bamboo can be their source of livelihood."
According to Katrina Son's "Unang Balita" report on Thursday, CBG will serve as "a training area for hands-on learning and source of technology." It will be where farmers and experts can demonstrate applicable technologies and farming strategies, processing techniques as well as skills.
Apart from a collection of 45 varieties of indigenous an exotic bamboo plants in the bambusetum, CBG visitors will also see a hut made completely of bamboo, a butterfly garden, as well as an orchard. — LA, GMA News
