Kyline Alcantara is Korea Tourism Organization’s honorary ambassador in the Philippines

Kyline Alcantara has been appointed by Korea Tourism Organization as its newest honorary ambassador in the Philippines.

KTO made the announcement in a press conference at Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City on Thursday.

"We are very pleased to welcome our new honorary ambassador for Korea tourism in the Philippines, Ms Kyline Alcantara," said KTO Manila director Hyung Joon Kim.

Kyline, who's turning 20 this year, has yet to visit South Korea but has gladly accepted her new role as KTO's honorary ambassador.

"I feel very much honored and grateful that KTO chose me to be the next ambassador of Korea tourism," said the Kapuso actress.

"As a fan of Korean food, dramas, music, it is a wonderful opportunity for me to learn more of not only K-dramas or K-pop but also Korean culture and what it has to offer to us Filipinos."

She also said she was excited as it would be her first time to travel to Korea.

When asked about the criteria for choosing an ambassador, Director Kim said "there are several factors" that they had to consider before making a choice, and he explained why KTO chose Kyline.

"First, Kyline is interested in Korean culture and heritage. Another reason is that she has wide range of charms and talents—she's an actress, a singer, and a performer. Lastly, Kyline is one of the Philippines' most promising and influential young actresses and is active in a lot of SNS platforms, with over 19 million followers across her accounts," said the director.

"We believe that through her good image and influence, she can help us to reach and encourage more Filipinos to be potential supporters of Korea tourism like herself."

Kyline has been in the show business industry since she was eight. Now in her 12th year in showbiz, she is an accomplished actress, singer, and performer with numerous top-rating teleseryes, brand endorsements, and OSTs under her name.

When asked about her dream acting roles, Kyline said a romantic-comedy movie or series with A-list Korean actors Lee Jong Suk or Lee Min Ho was on top of her list.

But when asked who she wanted to bring to Korea, without a doubt, Kyline answered with a huge grin: "Of course, it's Mavi since we both love Korean food."

As part of her duty as the new ambassador, Kyline will have the opportunity to visit Korea and share her experiences during her trips through her social media pages. In addition, she will also promote Korea at various events arranged by KTO and other Korean government agencies.

She will officially start her stint as an ambassador on April 30 for KTO's first offline event in 2022, dubbed as "Ganda Korea DIY Travel Seminar," which aims to promote and educate Filipino travelers about how accessible and safe Korea is for individual travel.

If you want to go to the "Ganda Korea DIY Travel Seminar," the event will be held at the SM North Edsa Skydome in Quezon City on April 30. Admission is free for everyone, but pre-registration is a must.
