Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa has not accepted new check-ins beginning January 22 after "a small number of colleagues" were diagnosed with COVID-19.
In a media statement dated January 23, Shangri-La Boracay said it will be not be accepting any new check-ins until January 28 so it may "conduct further deep cleaning and disinfection of the resort."

Upon learning of the positive test results, "affected colleagues were all placed in self-isolation in accordance with guidelines from the authorities," Shangri-La revealed.
"We are supporting them in any way we can during this period," the statement added.
The affected workers were all asymptomatic, Shangri-La said, "and did not exhibit any outward symptoms or reported feeling unwell on the days they were on duty."
They have conducted a comprehensive contact tracing, and have asked close contacts of affected workers to "self-isolate until further notice."
"We remain in close contact with the DOT and all relevant authorities and will continue to act in the best interest of all our guests and colleagues," it ended its statement.
