Siargao, Intramuros receive nominations at World Travel Awards 2020

The Philippines has received five nominations at the World Travel Awards 2020, the most prestigious accolade program in the travel industry.

Siargao Island was nominated in the world's leading island destination category, while Intramuros was nominated as the world's leading tourist attraction.

Siargao is a favorite destination for celebrities, whether for vacation or special occasions. Juancho Triviño and Joyce Pring did their pre-nup shoot on the island paradise, while Andi Eigenmann now calls it her home.

Intramuros, meanwhile, is famous for tours, whether for historical, religious, or recreational purposes.

The Philippines was also nominated in two other categories: the world's leading beach destination and world's leading dive destination.

Last year, the country was hailed as the leading dive destination for the first time after besting eight other nominees.

The Department of Tourism was also nominated as the world's leading tourist board this year.
