A Harry Potter theme park is coming to Tokyo in 2023!

According to a report on Kyodo News, the park is set to replace 94-year-old amusement park Toshimaen in Nerima, which owner Seibu Railway Co. is set to close on August 31.

Part of the site will be leased to Itochu Corp., and Warner Bros Entertainment Inc. will run the Harry Potter theme park.

The park will be the second of its kind in the world, following the popular studio tour The Making of Harry Potter in London.

Meanwhile, a large part of the land will be sold to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the report added. It will be turned into a park that will double as an emergency shelter space in the event of a disaster.

Currently, the closest that Japan has to a Harry Potter theme park is Universal Studios in Osaka.
