Palawan's Balabac Island has two beautiful secret spots for island hopping

There is no doubt that Palawan has a lot to offer. While El Nido and Coron remain top of mind, a lot of the province remains hidden, waiting to be explored.

San Vicente is slowly gaining popularity — and for good reason — but a recent "Biyahe ni Drew" episode shed the light on Balabac Island.

It's a 2nd class municipality in Palawan, and simple island living is what you can expect here. The only lodging options are homestay or camping, making it as exclusive, authentic, and as quiet as possible.

Balabac boasts of two beautiful island hopping spots . There is Onuk, where you can swim with sea turtles and survey giant claims.

It has an entrance fee of P1,500 and that comes with a super long stretch of a white sand beach. Local advise going to the island in the morning to avoid low tide.

And then there is the irresistable Angela Sandbar off the coast of Mansalangan Island. Apart from it being more affordable, the secret spot has stunning fine sand and clear waters.

Balabac is best for slow travel fans — and those who want to learn how to stay in the present and get connected to nature. Travel time from one island to another may last for one to two hours, with locals suggesting visitors to spend half a day on each island to enjoy what it has to offer. — Ma.
