Pilgrims are encouraged to visit the Divine Mercy hermitage in Quezon
One of the practices of Filipino Catholics during Holy Week, which is a time spent for prayer and meditation, is to do pilgrimages to religious sites.
Among the accessible sites is the Divine Mercy Hermitage at the San Ignacio in General Luna town, Quezon Province where one can find a 50-foot image of the Divine Mercy.
The statue is located on a hill near a chapel where one could attend mass or spend time to pray.
The trip to the area from Lucena City would take two hours and 30 minutes.
The hermitage, which is maintained by a priest, is the ideal place to spend time to pray and meditate at the time Christians observe the events of Holy Week.
There will be services that would be held during the Paschal Triduum or from the evening of Maundy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday.
There is no fee required of visitors but donations for the upkeep of the place are welcome. Visitors are requested not to use motorized vehicles within the compound to help maintain the solemnity of the place and to view strolling or walking as a form of penance.
The public is also reminded to clean as they go. — Peewee Bacuño/BAP, GMA News
