#TravelGoals: Epic island hopping adventure in Visayas

There's an adage that goes only boring people get bored and if you have the heart of an explorer, this is almost a mantra. Drew Arellano proves this as he tours Visayas again and again — always finding new things to do and try.

The region has much to offer and if you're ready to have a truly epic island hopping experience, it's time to dive right in and see the best of the best.

Blue everywhere!

Northern Cebu

Blue skies and bluer waters — it's a tropical island dream you wouldn't want to wake up from. One can spend the entire day enjoying the view at Bantayan Beach, but be sure to enjoy some Masi at Liloan. It's a sweet ball of malagkit with peanut butter inside — similar to a mochi — that'll power you through as you travel to Danao. There's an eco-park in Danao where you can do a sky drop and do more extreme activities. There's also a waterfall from which you can rappel. Seeing this view is a great motivation to stay fit.

Bohol

Hop to neighboring island Bohol and get ready to jump. Ask about the Cabagnaw Cave and prepare yourself for a splash. The water is cool and clear — perfect for snorkeling. For those who want a bigger splash, head to Candijay and check out Can-Umantad Falls. It's a 60-ft waterfall — the highest in Bohol — and it leads to natural pools where you can take a dip. Bohol is also a destination for bikers who enjoy the rolling hills of Alicia.

Iloilo

Traveling from island to island will definitely work up your appetite and the perfect place to sate yourself is Iloilo. La Paz Batchoy, Pancit Molo, Queen Siopao, Tino-um — there's plenty to eat so come hungry!

Guimaras

Mangroves as far as the eye can see define Guimaras and to make a trip meaningful, mangrove-planting can be part of the itinerary when you visit. An oil spill a decade ago destroyed the marine sanctuaries in Guimaras and visiting the island is a great eye-opener to the importance of living with nature more harmoniously. For more "green" sights, visitors are invited to check out the San Lorenzo Wind Farm.

Sagay and Cadiz

Carbin Reef alone is enough to take your breath away. The sandbar is a dream for people who want to get away from it all and just be submerged in cool, clear water. In Cadiz, there's the opposite of the peace at Carbin Reef at the Tawhai Floating Bar where you can let loose and party. The bar-cum-boat sails around the island, making it perfect for Instagram shots. — AT, GMA News
