Inside the LRT-1 Christmas train

Lanterns and mistletoe are not what you would usually expect upon entering the train.

But as a treat from the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), that is exactly what commuters are getting.

The otherwise boring commute has been unexpectedly brightened by the arrival of the special Christmas train at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) System Line 1.

Parols now hang inside the carriages of the LRT-1 trains. The poles have been transformed into large candy canes, and mistletoe decorate the windows.

Rochelle Gamboa, the Corporate Communications Head of LRMC, on Thursday said that "customer focus" is their way of improving the LRT-1.

"From functional improvements, LRMC also puts emphasis on making customers happy on board the train. So, instead of merely getting from point A to point B, they are reminded of the spirit of Christmas: faith, hope and love," she said.

The Christmas train, launched on Monday, will be in service until January 8.
