Not even the rainy weather could stop the tourists from showing up at the resorts, which are fully booked for the holidays, GMA Ilocos reported.

"Actually dumating ako kahapon. Masama ang panahon. Buti naging mabuti na," said tourist Gian Doroja.

Many of the vacationers had made reservations at the resorts as early as November. Some resorts are fully booked until New Year.

"Hanggang Dec. 31, palagay ko hanggang Jan. 2-3, fully booked kami," said Ernesto Ricaplaza, a supervisor at one of the resorts in the area.

For its part, the local government is monitoring the situation to ensure the tourists' safety.

Bounded to the west and north by the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea), Pagudpud has been called the great secret getaway of the Ilocos region.
