Loboc’s floating restaurant to fully reopen Dec. 8

More than a year after being affected by a magnitude-7.2 quake, the floating restaurant of Loboc, Bohol is set to fully reopen in December in time for the holidays.

Bohol tourism officer Elmer Varquez said the Loboc Floating Restaurant will open on December 8, state-run Philippine Information Agency reported.

It quoted Varquez as saying December 8 is also the date the new Loboc Bridge "fully opens."

A magnitude-7.2 quake hit Bohol on October 15 last year, destroying or heavily damaging the province's colonial churches and killing more than 200 people.

Included in the restaurant's relaunch are new uniforms for the staff and departure times that will be strictly observed, the PIA quoted Mayor Helen Alaba as saying.

The PIA also said that according to Alaba, Loboc would "have to be content with" 190 tourists a day now compared to the more than 3,000 it received daily before the earthquake. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
