Banig-inspired local brand Halohalo announces permanent closure

Halohalo, a local lifestyle brand known for its banig-inspired bags, has announced its permanent closure this month.

On Instagram, Halohalo creator and principal designer Cara Sumabat-Limjap said it’s “time to bid farewell to places and things that no longer serve us.”

“This journey of Halohalo has been a great one,” she added.

Halohalo's physical store in Powerplant Mall will close on January 15, while its website will shut down on January 29.

“To all the people who have been a part of it – from its infant stage to its graduation into the real world – thank you,” she added.

Launched in 2013 by Cara and her brother Rocco Sumabat, Halohalo rose to popularity for its unique take on woven bags. Later, the brand expanded to clothes, shoes, furniture, and home accessories.
