Loren Legarda brings out piña from her old fabric collection for SONA 2024

Senator Loren Legarda brought out a piña fabric from her collection for her outfit in this year's State of the Nation Address.

Legarda arrived on the red carpet in an off-white Filipiniana designed by Puey Quiñones, who splits his time between Manila and Los Angeles.

"Piña was declared an intangible cultural heritage in UNESCO last year [in] December," the senator said when asked about the inspiration for her dress.

Legarda added that the fabric came from her mother's "baul."

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will deliver his third SONA at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday at 4 p.m.

Some of the current pressing issues in the country include the rising conflict in the West Philippine Sea against global superpower China, which has prompted Manila to lodge diplomatic protests against Beijing, and officials from both countries to hold a bilateral meeting to manage the ongoing disputes in the region.
