Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna wears Binondo-inspired Filipiniana at SONA 2024
Manila Mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna stood out in her Filipiniana at President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City on Monday.
Lacuna wore a black Filipiniana with beaded gold details by Jo Rubio. Her gown had a special piece across her chest.
At the red carpet, she told Philippine press that the gown’s inspiration is Manila’s Binondo district.
“Ang inspirasyon po natin ay ang kalakalan po sa Binondo na kung saan po natin nabibili lahat po ng mga gold and everything, kung san po nagsimula talaga ang kalakalan sa buong bansa, sa ating buong kasaysayan,” Lacuna said.
President Marcos is set to deliver his third SONA at 4 p.m.
Some of the current pressing issues in the country include the rising conflict in the West Philippine Sea against global superpower China, which has prompted Manila to lodge diplomatic protests against Beijing, and officials from both countries to hold a bilateral meeting to manage the ongoing disputes in the region.
