Here's a closer look at Michelle Dee's Whang-Od-inspired homecoming gown
From the Miss Universe preliminaries up to her homecoming event in Filipinas, Michelle Dee continues to serve and slay each of her looks.
For her grand homecoming parade, the Kapuso beauty queen opted to wear another breathtaking gown inspired by the Philippines' last and oldest mambabatok, Apo Whang-Od.
On Instagram, Michelle and her gown designer, Mark Bumgarner, shared a closer look at her exquisite gown.
The gown featured a sheer bodice with black embroideries on the sleeves inspired by Whang-Od's tattoos, a white structured high collar with straight-cut pants, and a flowy train.
"The asymmetrical design gives it an edgy and modern look, yet remaining to my aesthetics; clean, structured, elegant," Mark described.
"The traditional Kalinga tattoo design was integrated in a more subtle way, as a nod to the legendary icon, Whang Od, and as a representation of our indigenous peoples," he added.
Michelle paired her gown with a gold crown adorned by South Sea pearls from Jewelmer.
On Sunday, a grand homecoming parade was held for Michelle at the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City, where thousands of spectators joined and showed support to our queen.
In an earlier report, Michelle shared that Apo Whang-Od knew she inspired the now-iconic Miss Universe 2023 gown.
Michelle returned home to the Philippines on November 25 after competing in the Miss Universe pageant, where she placed in the Top 10. She won four special awards, including Best National Costume.
