Michelle Dee wears Apo Whang-Od-inspired gown in homecoming parade
Michelle Dee wore another gown inspired by Apo Whang-Od during her homecoming parade on Sunday.
On Instagram, Sparkle Vice President Joy Marcelo shared some photos and videos of Michelle during the event held at the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City, where thousands of spectators joined and showed support to our queen.
Michelle wore a white robe dress. Underneath was a black gown with a tattoo design similar to her final evening gown in the pageant. In her head was the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 crown.
"And so the enormous crowd filled the streets chanting MMD MMD!" Marcelo wrote accompanied by the hashtags #deehomecoming.
Marcelo then proceeded to thank our Kababayans for their love and said that "Michelle is humbled by their love."
In an "Unang Hirit" interview, Michelle shared that Apo Whang-Od knew the now-iconic Miss Universe 2023 gown was inspired by her.
"Alam niya that my gown was inspired by her," Michelle said.
She said they were supposed to meet sometime in early October, but "it was just the schedule and logistics" and she could not make it.
"Pero magkikita kami," she said.
Michelle returned home to the Philippines on November 25 after competing in the Miss Universe pageant where she placed in the Top 10. She won four special awards, including Best National Costume.
