Alfred Vargas dons Francis Libiran barong and Marikina-made shoes for SONA 2023

Quezon City Representative Alfred Vargas wore Francis Libiran for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.

Vargas arrived at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in an intricately embroidered barong with a Philippine flag pin on his collar.

However, he told GMA News Online that the highlight of his outfit was his Marikina-made shoes.

He added that he was looking forward to hear the President's post-pandemic plans for the country, particularly regarding employment.

"Maganda na 'yung trajectory natin pagdating sa employment rate," he said. "For me, the key to post-pandemic sound economy is really more jobs and more livelihood opportunities."

Marcos will be delivering his second SONA fresh off lifting the national COVID-19 state of public health emergency.

Presidential son and Ilocos Norte Representative Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos estimated his father's SONA will last an hour and twenty five minutes long.

Meanwhile, classical opera singer Lara Maigue will lead the singing of the national anthem for the SONA.
