Risa Hontiveros dons dress made by Filipino weavers for Senate opening session
Senator Risa Hontiveros paid tribute to Filipino weavers with her outfit for the opening ceremony of the Second Regular Session of the 19th Congress at the Senate on Monday.
According to GMA Integrated News reporter Hana Bordey, the outfit was created by the women weavers of Lumban.
Hontiveros attended the opening session at the Senate ahead of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Batasang Pambansa this afternoon.
Marcos last week said his SONA will be “really very simple” and would be a “performance report” for Filipinos to see which of his pronouncements have been realized.
SONA 2023 will open with classical opera singer Lara Maigue singing the Lupang Hinirang.
The Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City has already been in lockdown since Thursday, ahead of Marcos’ SONA.
