Beauty Gonzalez's GMA Gala look pays homage to Philippine ancestral gold
If there's a single celebrity who took the theme "elegant formal" a little too seriously at the GMA Gala, it's Beauty Gonzalez.
For this year, the "Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis" actress opted to wear a simple nude corseted gown by Mara Chua, but the pièce de résistance of her whole ensemble was her choice of jewels, which were gold pieces that are more or less a thousand years old.
According to Beauty, her look was "an appreciation for Philippine Ancestral Gold," a beautiful representation of the Filipino culture at the GMA Gala.
"My [centuries] old [gold neckpiece and earrings] are [excavated eye and mouth covers] from distant places like Butuan and Surigao," the Kapuso star said on Instagram.
The ancestral pieces of jewelry were reworked by local bespoke jeweler Riqueza Fine Jewellery and had already made a previous appearance at the National Museum and Ayala Museum.
At the GMA Thanksgiving Ball last year, Beauty also wore an exquisite set of heirloom pieces: a 1930s Art Deco necklace, earrings, and a ring with Colombian Emeralds and Diamonds from Riqueza Fine Jewellery.
