Alden Richards reveals waiting six months for his GMA gala outfit

Alden Richards is among the much-awaited stars at the GMA Gala, happening tomorrow.

Although everybody knows Asia’s Multimedia Star is going to look dapper on the red carpet, at a virtual media conference for his month-long special episodes on “Magpakailanman,” Alden told the press that his outfit is sourced all the way from Africa.

“Sa Africa ko pa siya nakuha, ganun siya kalayo,” Alden told members of the media.

“And I waited for almost six months,” he added.

“'Di pa nga namin sure kung may GMA Ball this year [when we saw it] but sabi ko, ‘sige, kunin niyo na kasi magagamit natin yan,’” he said. “So sure na. Ito, magagamit na nga siya.”

“Surprise na lang po bukas,” Alden said.

According to Alden, this is that one night in a year where they can all dress up, “be our best versions and showcase [to] the world that we are proud to be Kapuso.”

But what the Sparkle star is most looking forward to is seeing his fellow artists.

“In everyday, hindi mo naman makakasalamuha lahat. Of course, you can always see your co-actors and co-workers on TV, but you don't really have the chance to really meet them and see them in person,” he said. 

“Excited ako [makita] gaano na ba kalaki ang Kapuso Network right now, and gaano na ba kami karaming mga artista ng GMA,” Alden added.

The 2023 GMA Gala Ball will take place on Saturday, July 22 at 5 p.m. It will be livestreamed on GMA Network and Sparkle GMA Artist Center’s Facebook and YouTube, and on Sparkle’s TikTok account.
